Bringing a photo down to the dimensions you need — a 400-pixel-wide thumbnail, a 1920-pixel header, a 400 by 400 profile picture — happens here without uploading a file. You choose the new width and height, see the result immediately and download the new version. The image is read by your browser, redrawn on a canvas and offered as a new file; not a single byte reaches our server, nothing is logged and nothing is kept. Practical limits: a file may be up to 10 MB and up to 25 megapixels. Those limits are not there to nudge you towards paying — they stop your browser from failing on a canvas it cannot allocate. Beyond that, use is free and unlimited, including commercially: no account, no licence, no watermark on the output and no daily maximum.

Frequently asked questions

Is the aspect ratio preserved automatically?

You set width and height yourself, so you can deliberately depart from the original ratio. To avoid distortion, derive the second value from the first: divide the target width by the original width and multiply the original height by that factor. A 4000 by 3000 photo brought to 1600 wide therefore becomes 1200 high. If you want to reach a fixed ratio without distorting, cropping is the better choice — that is what the crop tool is for.

Do I lose quality when resizing down?

Scaling down means pixels are discarded by definition: that information does not come back by enlarging the file again later. For on-screen display you will not notice, as long as you do not go smaller than the space the image is shown in. Enlarging is a different story — the tool accepts a higher number, but your browser then has to invent pixels and the result gets softer, not sharper. For print, always work from the original.

Which files can I use?

Any image format your browser can read: JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF and usually AVIF too. The result comes back in the same type as the original. To switch type — for example from PNG to WebP to speed up a page — use the convert tool. To reduce file size without changing dimensions, the compression tool is the one you want.

Why is there a 10 MB and 25 megapixel limit?

That limit exists for your browser, not for our server — the file never goes there. A canvas for an image of tens of megapixels costs hundreds of megabytes of working memory, and on a phone that means a tab closing without warning. Checking up front prevents it. For virtually any photo from a camera or phone the limit is ample; if you do hit it, resize in two steps.
